At last after making my way into Systech,it wasn’t a smooth sail at all.. The first day at my induction program the HR explained us how Systech works and even I heard that shocking word “Exit Criteria”. Yes, wherever I go, this word follows. I had to clear the so called DI test to be an employee for which I had 3 attempts and it was obvious from their talk that there was no way to clear in the first one. But still I went for it and despite good preparation couldn’t make it. For the preparation I had, the marks were too low and I just got 43.5. Five of them cleared and only 11 were left now. I know that if I take it to the last attempt it could be way too difficult and would be suffocating for breath. The only hurdle that lay before us and the DI test was time. And so we were given a practice paper. I know that I had to go for this and so practiced this paper so many times calculating time and there were times where I was able to complete the paper in less than two hours of time. Some of my friends even made fun of me saying that this guy seems to practice the paper in such a way that the same paper is gonna appear in the test too. Anyway I dint mind those comments and went on with the practice . Even here I had to come on Saturdays and Sundays. That reminded me of the preparation I had in Infy. But I tried to forget the result I got there.
The day came and I was all set to do well. Plans were made prior as to which one to be done first , what to do and what not to, everything was all set and I was very confident. The examiner came and we all saw the paper and I started to sweat. It was nothing of sort what we had prepared and all our preplanned plans were not gonna be implemented cause the paper was completely different. Anyway I decided to give my best shot and started. Thankfully I loaded the SQL and now it was time for Informatica and I knew that I was running short of time despite many practices that I had. I had to do it fast and correctly too. There was no scope for experimentation. I was caught between two things. There were two ways to achieve the result. One was the long but the easy and known way the other was what the tutor wanted , and it was the short way too. But I dint wanted to take a chance and took the long but my known way of doing it. I knew that I could be falling short of time so I had to be quick. And so I was, just about managed to finish but there were a few expressions that were left unfinished. In the previous exam they dint allocate much marks for expressions and I thought I could leave it, but later felt that why should I leave when I know how to implement these things and so I completed them just in time.
Everyone outside was discussing how bad they had done and how tough the paper was. I really couldn’t imagine myself writing the third attempt, but it was well on its way. The day came (9th March 2010) when they announced the results. They started from the highest to the lowest and my name came and I just got 51. Many cleared and I was feeling lonely. I was wondering how I would say this to my parents, how they will take it and so on .In the mean time they were moving the failed people to the front row and it was disgusting. I felt that even God let me down but still was praying as to some miracle would happen and so it did. Our VP called and asked us , as to what went wrong. Actually it was a caution before the final exit. When he asked me the reason I shooted out saying that I had done well but I couldn’t imagine that am not just there and I asked for the split up marks. In a few minutes we were at the training hall to know our split up. Usually split is up done with a one on one session. But this time we all agreed to have it in public in the monitor. Chiranjivi’s marks were the first one and when he was discussing the marks we found that for informatica he dint receive marks because his mapping was not there. But when checked it in the individual login the mapping was present. So was the case for many and so he agreed to re-evaluate.
My hopes were very high as I had scored 0 in Informatica but managed to get 51 in SQL alone. He called us one by one for the re-evaluation and everyone who went in came back with the good news and very good marks. I was called next to Tiwary and the tutor evaluated with me sitting just next to him. I crossed the 75 marks and went on to get 86. Approximately the double of what I got in the first test. I knew God was always there to help me out and my belief had saved me. My happiness knew no bounds. I thanked the Almighty and I knew that miracles do happen because this was one such incident. Finally now am an employee too. Signing off as an employee
